The cleaning itself will consist of several steps. First, a scaler is used to get rid of any plaque or tartar that has built up in your mouth since the last cleaning. Next, the hygienist will use a toothpaste that has a gritty consistency to get rid of any remaining particles on the tooth. This toothpaste comes in many tasty flavors. Finally, you get a floss and a rinse. The hygienist will finally put a fluoride treatment on your teeth to help prevent further cavities.
Dental Exam
The dental exam is a straightforward procedure. Oftentimes, the exam will start with x-rays of your whole mouth. Once the x-rays are complete, you will be brought back to the exam room where the dentist will come in and see you. They can review the x-rays and then do a thorough mouth exam. They will check for signs of alignment issues, decay, and cancer. If there are no issues to report, you will be sent home with an appointment for your next exam.
